Chinese Tui Na Massotherapy
‘Touch is essential to life’
‘Touch is the essence of Tui Na’
‘Touch awakens and restores wellbeing’
Chinese Tui Na is an ancient healing art which uses classical techniques of manipulation and massage. These methods include pressing, kneading, pushing, rocking, grasping and gentle stretching in conjunction with the use of acupressure. This activates /stimulates the body’s Qi (vital energy) and blood, relaxes the tendons, soothes the muscles and joints, reduces swelling, promotes circulation of the blood and lymph and improves metabolism and flexibility. In this way Tui Na allows the body to naturally heal itself and gain a sense of well-being.
You'll love Tui Na massotherapy if you enjoy receiving Swedish-style / conventional bodywork. Tui Na (pronounced twee-nah) is an excellent alternative to conventional/traditional massage as it offers all the benefits / offering all its benefits as well as the ability to address specific health concerns.
Each of us is unique so treatments will be adapted for your comfort and needs for a truly individual experience.
Tui Na – a History
Tui Na is an ancient healing art of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). Early writings on TCM found in the Nei Ching or “The Yellow Emperors’s Classics of Internal Medicine“ date back over 4000 years. Since these early times Tui Na has been practiced in China and is still practiced in hospitals and clinics today.
TCM suggests that we all have a "life force" or "life energy" which regulates physical, emotional, mental and spiritual stability. This life force, known as Qi in China, Ki in Japan and Prana in India flows from all living things and is vital to well-being. Acupuncture, TaiChi and Yoga are based on this free flow of internal energy.
TCM believes that all diseases are caused by imbalances and blockages in the flow of Qi.
Using classical hand techniques to massage the soft tissue and acupressure (the stimulation of acupuncture points using light finger pressure) to affect the flow of Qi, it will regulate disorders of the body and establish a more harmonious flow of vital energy promoting the body’s natural healing process.
Importance of bodywork
We are affected by everything in our environment and way of life -- the air we breathe, the food we eat, the movement of our bodies, the stillness of our minds. In this fast-paced world we become more exhausted, rushing around and living on adrenaline. Tui Na brings the receivers attention to their bodies encouraging them to make healthier lifestyle choices.
Tui Na is designed to prevent problems, not just correct them. By keeping the body's energy in balance, health is maintained.
In an age of impersonal medicine, massotherapy offers a drug-free, non-invasive, and humanistic approach based on the body's natural ability to heal itself. I truly believe that it can allow the client to progress to higher levels of physical and emotional well-being.
Regularly scheduled self-care can play a huge part in how healthy you’ll be and how youthful you’ll remain with each passing year. Budgeting time and money for bodywork at consistent intervals is truly an investment in your health.
